The gap seemed managable at 12 points, but now the gap between Utd and City is 15 points. And with not that many games left, it almost looks a certainty that Manchester United will claim the Barclay’s Premier League Title. Everton helped in the matter by upsetting City 2-0 at Goodison Park. City hardly looked like defending champions on the day as they couldn’t even must a goal. Osman and Jaglieka scored for Everton to secure three points and put the club in line for a Uefa spot.

Manchester United disposed of Reading 1-0 at Old Trafford in very workmanlike fashion. It was hardly a crackin’ affair, but one that garnered Utd three valuable points in their championship run. Rooney buried the game winner. Back to Manchester City…they have never looked as sharp or determined as they did last season. Today they were missing Yaya Toure in midfield and his absence left a huge void for City. Gareth Barry just doesn’t have enough in his game to spark the City attack and hold the midfield defensively when the need arises.

In all honesty, it surprises me that Barry is deemed to serve a purpose at City. I have never been a fan of his play and consider him highly over-rated. The same goes for James Milner. I love Milner’s workrate, but City needs more out of those spots on the field if they are to make a serious run at the title NEXT season.

On the other side of town, Sir Alex keeps winning and winning. Even with the grizzled veteran leadership of Ryan Giggs, Utd is so clinical and sound. Though Sir Alex relies on Welbeck more heavily than I would, it’s still worked out and they look destined to claim yet another title.

In Major League Soccer action…I tried to watch RSL vs Colorado Rapids today, but couldn’t get past 15 minutes worth. Where are all the stars? Where are the players that DEMAND my attention? Well, they weren’t on the field today.
